Scheid received her Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2013. She will develop and promote educational guidelines and programs around rights, permissions and fair use as they pertain to teaching, research and publication, and she will lead instructional activities relating to best practices in the management of author’s rights and appropriate reuse of copyrighted content. Scheid will support campus students, faculty and staff in navigating copyright matters in the creation, use, dissemination and open sharing of scholarly work. She will lead the development and implementation of copyright policies and strategies to enable broader access, use and preservation of University Libraries’ collections. Reporting to the head of the Scholarly Sharing program area, Scheid’s new role will include the operational and strategic leadership of Copyright Services. Maria Scheid has been appointed head of Copyright Services effective June 1.
